Overview
Great
Southern Grammar welcomes applications from overseas for
students to study in Years 7 to 12 and live in the
residential accomodation. Most families apply
for a student place for one of two reasons:
- To allow a student to complete his or her
schooling in the Australian education system; or
- To provide the student with a cultural and
language experience.
Students whose first language is other than English are
required to undertake English language testing by the
Australian Education Assessment Services (AEAS). Visit
www.aeas.com.au for more
information. Based on
the information from AEAS, the School will
assess which year level is appropriate for the student.
Agents
Great Southern Grammar does not engage agents for
the purpose of recruiting international students. Any
enrolment enquiries in relation to international students
should be made directly to the Head of Development and
Enrolments.
Courses
Students enrolled at GSG will follow a course of study
determined by their age, academic ability and areas of
interest. All courses offered at GSG are fully accredited
by the School Standards and Curriculum Authority of Western Australia. Students
who successfully complete Year 12 will be issued with a
Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE). For more
information on courses and assessment see Studying at GSG.
Submitting an Application
An Application Form should be completed and submitted
to the school with the A$200 application processing fee.
The following information (translated into English) is also required:
- Copy of the student's
most recent school report;
- A supporting statement from the Principal of the
student's current school;
- A copy of the student's passport and birth
certificate;
- English Language Testing results.
Offer of a Place
When a suitable student place becomes available, a
formal offer letter and a Written Agreement
detailing the terms and conditions of enrolment will be
sent. An interview in person, if possible, or by telephone with the
student and parent will be conducted. Pending the outcome
of the interview and the signing of parent and student
contracts, an endowment fee invoice will be issued.
Payment of this fee secures the student's place. GSG will
then issue the electronic Confirmation of Enrolment (eCOE)
form which parents must present to the Department of
Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) to obtain a student
visa.
