Our
Early Childhood Centre incorporates the pre primary,
Kindergarten and Year 1 levels where young children
work at their own rates through a three year integrated
programme, commencing at age 4 or 5 years.
As
this stage of development is a transition from the home
to school environments.
Our
ECC is a 'classroom without walls',
incorporating internal 'classroom' space, open experimental
learning areas, and a multi sensory playground based
around the School of the Sea theme.
Our
ECC specifically caters for each child as an individual,
and recognises that young children develop skills at
their own pace in their own good time. With this focus
we are able to ensure that a child is developmentally
ready to make a smooth transition to the Junior School.
While
designed with different objectives, our 4 year old programme
runs in conjunction with the 5 year old programme. Groups
differ according to the educational focus of activities.
While
some children will progress to the Junior School in two
years, others may possibly need longer
before
they are
properly equipped with the skills and self-confidence
to successfully make the transition.
