Laboratory Technician

Status: Part-time, 30 hours per week. Seven-week fixed-term contract: 1 April to 31 May 2019, exclusive of school holidays (15-26 April).

An opportunity exists for an experienced Laboratory Technician to work at GSG for seven weeks while the permanent incumbent is on long service leave. This position is for 30 hours per week from 1 April to 31 May 2019, exclusive of school holidays (15-26 April 2019).

This position is responsible for preparing, organising, distributing and collecting reagents and materials for teaching Science, and for maintaining Science laboratories and resources.

The ideal applicant possesses:

  • A tertiary qualification in Laboratory Techniques or a high level of specialised knowledge of Science or Science management;
  • Demonstrated experience as a Laboratory Technician, ideally within a school environment;
  • Knowledge of procurement processes;
  • A focus on/demonstrated ability to apply safe working practices; and
  • A strong customer service focus and proven ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with colleagues.
