Head of Boarding House (two positions)

Closing Date: 25 October 2018

Overview: Two opportunities exist for people passionate about caring for boarding students.

There are a variety of flexible options available for these positions, ranging from part-time to full-time opportunities to be negotiated with the successful candidate.

The roles of Head of Boarding House oversee the health, safety and welfare of students in residence in GSG Boarding Houses, ensuring all academic and behavioural expectations are met. The people in these roles inspire, lead and manage boarding house staff.

Great Southern Grammar is an independent, Christian, coeducational residential and day school for students K-12, located in Albany, Western Australia. GSG Boarding consists of five onsite boarding houses located on a spacious 144-acre site alongside the Kalgan River and Oyster Harbour waterways. Each house is led by a person who works under the direction of the Head of Boarding.

GSG Boarding provides a unique opportunity to live within and contribute to the school and broader community. Wonderful friendships are developed between residential students, with close bonds serving them well into their adult lives.

GSG Boarding has the capacity to accommodate up to 148 residential students from Years Seven to Twelve. Most residential students occupy single rooms, with the boarding houses emulating large, extended homes, providing a friendly environment.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to coordinate the day-to-day operations of a boarding house and support and mentor students in an holistic manner with a focus on positive academic and wellbeing outcomes.

The ability to relate to, manage and liaise with students in a compassionate and considerate manner, as well as to promote positivity and work as part of a team of staff is of prime importance. This is a unique opportunity to make a positive difference in the lives of GSG boarders.

These are live-in positions. Remuneration includes onsite accommodation suitable for an individual, couple or family. Twelve weeks leave per year (non-term periods) is offered.
