Rural Scholarship

For 2025 enrolments - APPLICATION CLOSING DATE Friday 31 May
Open to students commencing from Year Seven onwards in 2025

Rural Scholarships are awarded to students from remote and rural Australia who otherwise would not have an opportunity to attend Great Southern Grammar. Families need to reside at least 85km from Albany to be eligible.

Scholarships provide partial remission of varying levels (up to 60%) on boarding fees. The Scholarship will continue until the student graduates from Great Southern Grammar, subject to annual review and provided satisfactory progress is made.

Rural Scholarships are provided to well-rounded individuals (not already enrolled at Great Southern Grammar) who demonstrate general excellence in many pursuits, including academic merit, personal achievement, and community involvement.

  • For new boarding families unable to attend GSG due to financial reasons
  • Financial application required
  • Demonstration of family financial hardship
  • Strong academic standing
  • NAPLAN results at state average or above
  • Active engagement in music, sport or other cocurricular activity
  • Citizenship and positive contribution to activities in and out of school
  • Demonstration of determination, engagement and perseverance in all aspects of schooling
  • Demonstration the pursuit of excellence in all aspects of schooling
  • Boarding students only
  • Covers up to 60% of boarding fees based on individual assessment of application
