Service Learning

Service Learning

Service is central to life at Great Southern Grammar.

We inspire students to give back, connect with their community and make a lasting impact. GSG graduates become beacons of light. This means being in the community and of the community.

From the earliest years, students engage in sustainability projects, learn from Menang elders, and volunteer locally. As they grow, service expands through our Values and Christian Service (VaCS) programme, activities include wattle eradication, aged care visits and musical performances for community events.

You will find GSG students everywhere:

  • Cleaning up for Clean Up Australia Day
  • Volunteering at Surfing for the Disabled
  • Representing youth on the Albany Youth Advisory Committee
  • Fundraising for charities
  • Even scuba diving to remove debris from Princess Royal Harbour

Service is woven into everything we do, students, staff and the wider GSG family. We believe that with great opportunity comes great responsibility to give back.

Through service learning, students discover their passions and purpose, experience the joy of giving, and understand their place in the world.

Great Southern Grammar acknowledges that the land upon which we learn, play and grow is Menang land, whose traditional custodians are the Noongar people. We pay our respects to elders past, present and emerging and acknowledge that their sovereignty was never ceded.
