Sports
School Sport
Physical Education and Sport are an integral part of the school’s educational programme. Active participation provides not only for the physical development of individuals but also for intellectual, social and character development. Our programme aims to develop school spirit, sportsmanship, self-discipline and the adoption of active and healthy life skills through Physical Education and cocurricular Sport.
All students in Years Seven to Ten participate in two periods of Physical Education and two periods of Health each week. Through participation in a broad range of activities, students develop physical, self-management and interpersonal skills needed for confident participation.
House Sport
House sport is an integral part of the school calendar. Interhouse swimming, athletics, and cross-country carnivals are held annually, fostering a sense of belonging and pride. All students are expected to participate in House activities and competitions.
Community Sport
Great Southern Griffins Club
The Griffins Club offers a wide range of sporting activities to cater for the varied interests of students. The Great Southern Griffins Club incorporates many sports and provides opportunities for students to join Griffins teams and participate in local competitions. Students can participate in a variety of sports, train and play enthusiastically and demonstrate school spirit through their team.
In general, all sporting teams have one training session per week (mid-week) and one game per week. Games can be played on various days depending on the sport.
All school teams require coaches and team managers. Willing and interested parents are asked to contact the relevant Griffins support group.
Great Southern Grammar acknowledges that the land upon which we learn, play and grow is Menang land, whose traditional custodians are the Noongar people. We pay our respects to elders past, present and emerging and acknowledge that their sovereignty was never ceded.
