Strategic Plan

Create YOUR Impact: A Year of Growth and Evolution

Over the past 12 months, our community, staff, students, families and the School Council has collaboratively developed our new strategic plan, Create YOUR Impact. This milestone marks a significant chapter in the evolution and growth of Great Southern Grammar, weaving together threads of our past with the present needs of young people and their families, amidst the increasing complexities of school education.

At the heart of this strategic plan lies a profound question: What do we want to be known for? This inquiry led us to reflect on our origins and reaffirm our identity, rooted in our Christian tradition, values, mission and vision.

Our Identity and Values

Great Southern Grammar is a vibrant, independent Christian coeducational day and boarding school for students from Pre-Kindergarten to Year Twelve. With the motto 'Wisdom and Knowledge,' we have pursued excellence in education for over 25 years, providing first-class education to students from regional, rural and remote areas.

Founded in the Christian tradition, our culture is grounded in the lived values of Respect, Integrity, Courage and Compassion. We celebrate diversity, embrace inclusion and foster a deep sense of belonging for all members of our community.

Our Vision for Graduates

All Great Southern Grammar graduates are beacons of light in the world, making a positive, lasting impact in their communities for the common good. We are a future-focused school, igniting passion, shaping purpose and cultivating joy. Every student experiences personal success and discovers their important place in the world.

Bringing Our Vision to Life

To realise our vision, we have identified five core strengths that serve as the vehicle to bring our vision to life:

1. PLACE.

Great Southern Grammar is an extraordinary place, located on Menang Noongar boodja in a unique coastal and regional setting. Through engaging learning experiences in our natural and built environments, we develop deep cultural competence and sustainable practices.

2. COMMUNITY.

Our school is a community of warmth and support. We ensure each student is safe, known and cared for. By nurturing collaborative partnerships and meaningful relationships with our families and the wider community, we build a culture of belonging.

3. LEARNING AND CARE.

We deliver exceptional learning and care, committed to quality teaching that is highly engaging and develops essential knowledge, skills and wisdom. We support lifelong learning and encourage students to pursue their individual passions for personal success. Our integrated pastoral care supports students academically, physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually, fostering resilience and agency over their wellbeing.

4. EXPERIENCE.

We provide adventurous experiences, believing in the benefits of the outdoor classroom that shapes character, develops problem-solving skills and captures the heart of service to others. Students engage in milestone experiences throughout their schooling journey, transitioning from childhood to young adulthood and preparing to engage in an ever-changing world.

EXPERIENCE

5. PEOPLE.

Our greatest strength is our extraordinary people. We celebrate all staff as educators and recognise their dedication to helping our students achieve their best. We cultivate expertise, invest in professional growth and foster development and leadership capability in a collaborative environment.

Our strategic plan has brought greater clarity to our identity, values, vision and mission. Through the continued cultivation of our core strengths, PLACE, COMMUNITY, LEARNING AND CARE, EXPERIENCE and PEOPLE we will realise our hopes and aspirations for our students to create a positive and lasting impact in their communities.

Great Southern Grammar acknowledges that the land upon which we learn, play and grow is Menang land, whose traditional custodians are the Noongar people. We pay our respects to elders past, present and emerging and acknowledge that their sovereignty was never ceded.
